Challenges
The customer faced three main challenges:
* Finding a small removable formfactor storage solution with a high capacity of 1TB that could operate in temperatures
ranging from -40°C to 85°C.
* Ensuring that the storage solution included OPAL security encryption for secure communication within their
defense systems.
* Ensuring reliable and fast storage of high-resolution sensor data.
Solutions
UD info tackled these challenges by using Kioxia's industrial-grade 112-layer BiCS5 Flash IC and advanced design techniques. This enabled UD info to create a CFeXpress with a capacity of 1TB. CFeXpress, based on PCIe, can offer high-speed data transfer rates and robust performance in compact form factors. With read/write speeds exceeding 1GB/s, it is ideal for applications requiring fast data processing and storage in harsh environments. Additionally, the CFeXpress was equipped with OPAL security encryption in the firmware, enhancing its data protection capabilities.
